The second survival study in pediatric cancers in Romania for cases diagnosed between 2014 and 2017 was conducted in 2024 by the Daruieste Aripi Association in partnership with the Romanian Society of Pediatric Onco-Hematology.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The study was independently evaluated and it received validation from Ms. Gemma Gatta (Istituto Nazionale Tumori di Milano, Italy), EUROCARE scientific coordinator\u00a0 – the most important european study program for cancer survival.<\/p>\n

The survival rate at 5 years from the date of diagnosis for cases diagnosed between 2014 -2017 is 74% for the age group 0-14 years old.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The survival rate at 5 years from the date of diagnosis for cases diagnosed between 2010 – 2017 is 72%\u00a0<\/strong>for the age group 0-14 years old. The average for the European Union is 81% and 71% for Eastern Europe (according to EUROCARE 6<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

There is a significant difference in survival rates between children in rural areas and those in urban areas (67% in rural areas vs. 75% in urban areas), as well as between different regions of the country: Bucharest\/Ilfov (76%) versus North East\/South East (68%).<\/p>\n
