The study was initiated by the ‘Dăruiește Aripi’ Association and implemented by a group of researchers from the Department of Psychology at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, led by Univ. Prof. Dr. Adriana Baban.
The research received the Favorable Research Ethics Approval from the Scientific Council of Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca.
Research Results:
The needs of parents and children identified by researchers following this analysis are as follows:
- Rapid establishment of diagnosis and uninterrupted, free access to modern treatments.
- Access to relevant information conveyed in an easily understandable manner.
- Empathetic communication from medical staff with children and their relatives.
- At the hospital
- facilities adapted for treatment, hygiene, learning, rest, and recreation.
- Avoidance of waiting times in clinics and outpatient departments.
- Adequate food catering to patients’ needs.
5. Emotional support for children and their relatives.
6. Monitoring and management of post-hospitalization issues (medical, emotional, educational, administrative, financial) for functional readjustment to everyday life following the experience caused by the illness.
