The purpose of this project is to improve hospital conditions for children and adult patients from the intensive care units of the Fundeni Clinical Institute and reducing stress factors particular to intensive care environments. Also, the project aims to improve communication with patients and between specialists and to prevent the increase in the burnout syndrome score for the medical staff in the intensive care units.
The Project implies purchasing equipment and medical devices that were identified together with the medical staff and psychologists on the units, such as: patient warning system, patient recovery chairs, videolaryngoscope set, patient lift, bedpan washer and sterilizers, equipment for the audio, video and sensory stimulating elements.
Also, we have acquired elements for sensory stimulation for the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit within Fundeni Clinical Institute. Patients within this unit, will be now exposed to multi-sensory experiences directed by a therapist through light adjustment, atmosphere, sounds and textures. An advantage of this therapy resided in not being based on verbal communication. This may be benefic to patients under intensive care therapy, as it may offer a type of stimulation that otherwise would be almost impossible to reach.
