Arrangement of spaces dedicated to children in transfusion centres in the country

Amount: 2.359 euros

Implementing period: August 2019 – March 2020

Financial resources: from donations

Statistics are worrying: less than 2% of Romanians donate blood, which is 4 times less than the European average.

The aim of the project is to increase the number of blood donors from all over the country, by arranging spaces dedicated to children in transfusion centers, to encourage donors to come and donate even accompanied by their little ones.

The first such space was created in Constanta at the request of Mrs. Alina Dobrota, the coordinator of the center in Constanța.

“The blood crisis in Romania continues. The number of donors at national level does not cover the need for blood, so such campaigns aimed at increasing the number of donors are extremely necessary”, said Dr. Alina Dobrota, the initiator of the project at national level.

In August we visited 10 transfusion centers in the country and together with the medical staff from each center we identified the elements necessary to create such a space.

These are: Arad, Baia Mare, Brașov, Constanța, Oradea, Ploiești, Pitești, Slobozia, Târgu Jiu, Timișoara, and Sfântu Gheorghe.

They were followed from January, 2020 also by the Regional centres for Transfusions from:  Bacău, Galați, Iași, Buzău, Piatra Neamț, Suceava.
